Coating & Composite Engineering
HEROTEX™ uses a coating and composite structure instead of relying on a membrane-only construction. The coating layer can be applied to different base fabrics, allowing thermal control functions to be integrated without fixing the material to a single fabric type. This structure makes it possible to design materials for different applications while maintaining the same thermal management principle. The coating system can be adjusted in thickness, composition, and application method depending on the required performance.
Aerogel Coating Technology
At the core of the HEROTEX™ system is an aerogel-based nanoporous coating. The aerogel structure contains a large volume of air within microscopic pores, resulting in extremely low thermal conductivity compared to conventional materials. This coating reduces heat transfer while keeping the material lightweight and flexible. Because the insulation function is achieved through the coating layer, the thermal performance can be applied without significantly increasing fabric thickness.
IR Control Technology
HEROTEX™ incorporates infrared reflection and absorption control within the coating formulation. The coating can be designed to reduce radiant heat exposure and to control infrared emission depending on the intended application. This allows the material to be used in environments where thermal visibility, radiant heat, or high-temperature exposure must be managed. The IR control function can be combined with insulation and other thermal control elements within the same coating system.
